What's the role?

The Head of operations will be a part of the senior management team of the company and will lead the strategic operations activities (logistics / supply chain, professional services & repairs as well as administration of corporate fleet and offices including HSCs), with all service providers. The incumbent is responsible for the domestic supply chain activities encompassing warehousing, inbound and outbound logistics and will work in close collaboration with the GM and other functional leaders to ensure that Hilti products & other capabilities are optimally utilized to build their businesses.

What does the role involve?

Strategy & Implementation
Expected end result : Seamless strategy formulation and implementation ensuring that Operations are aligned with corporate strategy and business plan

Actively participates in strategy formulation and implementation for the region to ensure operations are seamlessly aligned with corporate strategy and business plan. Develops and manages operations-related plans, budgets, policies and procedures.
Develops best practice processes, in close conjunction with Finance and IT to enhance the ERP set-up
Develop and direct the full implementation of strategic plans working in conjunction with sales, marketing and operational areas of the company
Liaise with the Executive Leadership team to support the achievement of corporate objectives
Work closely with sales, marketing and other areas in the company to develop best practice processes
Ensure excellence in strategic initiatives through ensuring LEAN principles are applied across the Operations functions

Optimize Logistics Network
Expected end result : Continued optimization of Hilti Indonesia logistics network for both inbound and outbound logistics

Setting up and managing the warehouses in Indonesia to cater to the needs of customers
Managing contracts and delivery for a complete procurement cycle
Ensuring commercial and cost saving benefits are realized at the P&L level
Negotiating and reviewing contracts as necessary for suppliers and sub-contractors
Identify key projects to improve service levels and cost optimization
Monitor quality through performance dashboards
Leads the SCM/Logistics and operations team initiatives to fulfil the company’s requirements by optimising the logistics network for both inbound and outbound logistics to obtain an overall cost effective solution.
Creates performance dashboards for warehousing and logistics functions for effective monitoring. Responsible for setting up and managing warehouses in India to cater to the requirements of the domestic customers
Manages the deals, contracts & delivery for a complete procurement cycle, ensuring the commercial and cost saving benefits are realized at the P&L level and ensuring on time delivery. Negotiates and reviews contracts as necessary for suppliers and sub-contractors
Oversees the Project Management Team to ensure effective contracts with material and services suppliers to ensure quality on time project completion

People Management
Expected end result : Proper development of team members and succession planning

Drives productivity and ensures the proper development of the workforce.
Identify and evaluate the training and development needs of each direct report
Develop, train, coach, monitor and evaluate direct reports across the Operations functions to ensure team members are set up for success
Formulate and input clear career plans for each direct report into internal database
Succession planning for the Head of Operations role by identifying and developing clear successors
Professional Services / Repairs

Oversees productivity goals and tracks progress of work in the area of Professional Services / Repairs.
Ensures efficient and effective service schedules on equipment for warranty compliance. Ensures the ready status of idle equipment

What you need is:

  • Degree in related field especially in Supply Chain Management with additional qualification in Materials Management from a reputed institute having at least 10+ years of experience with the exposure in leading Operations Function.
  • Proficient English written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Logistic and Supply Chain Management, Customer services, and Repair Operations
  • Demonstrated resilience to face challenging and critical situations in a constructive and decisive manner, dealing with internal business partners and also commitment to business improvement and be able to drive change to achieve results
  • Exposure to construction equipment industry would be an added advantage.
  • Have a sound knowledge of his/her discipline (credibility of stakeholders/business partners)
  • Should have practiced “out of box” ideas; Is innovative, proactive and open for new things
  • A strong business acumen together with pro-active behaviour, conceptual thinking & crafting direction skills with an entrepreneurial & strategic mindset to drive and make a difference
  • Exposure to MM in SAP environment is essential
  • To be geographically flexible, and have the ambition to pursue an international career
