I joined Hilti in 2012 after 5 years in management consulting for the opportunity to work for a company that puts its people first, has a unique business model and plays the long game. With the team I joined, I got to work on the direction of our company: the Champion 2020 corporate strategy, our diversity and inclusion approach, IT strategy and digital market reach. I had a fantastic time and enjoyed the best job I had ever had!
After two years I left headquarters in Liechtenstein to lead the sales team for the Building Construction trade in northwest England. We had a great run that started with challenges all around. But with the help of some fantastic colleagues inside and outside of the team, we were able to take on the challenges. In two years the team became one the best sales teams in Europe and got to go to Liechtenstein to celebrate. The best job I had ever had!
After two great year in GB, I went back to my home country Sweden where I took up the role as Sales Director. The team were on a roll: Best employer in Sweden in the Great Place to Work survey for many years and growing double-digit year after year. Being part of that journey with that team was a privilege. Again: Best job I had ever had!
After three years in Sweden, I was asked to help build our capabilities in digital marketing and sales. I joined a global team based in Paris and Plano, Texas, which we have since 2019 grown substantially while drastically improving our capabilities in ecommerce and launching programmatic marketing globally. In running Hilti Digital Marketing, I try to live by people-first, build on our unique business model and I know we are part of the long game for Hilti. And honestly: This is the best job I have ever had!

I joined Hilti after having completed my PhD studies in Business Informatics as I wanted to experience how a successful industrial company is running IT projects. I remember that only two months after I joined, I was sent to a critical on-site mission to Canada to help in turning a difficult project to success. Retrospectively, this was an excellent experience as I got to know the Hilti culture at its best: a project that does not go well and together with colleagues from various fields, we made it a success in a short timeframe.
Soon after this, I was able to join the IT leadership team and eventually, I moved to our IT and Software talent hub in Kuala Lumpur. During my three years there, I learnt a lot about how to work in a culturally diverse and international setup. And I experienced how fast Asia is moving when it comes to software – definitely an eye opener for me!
Later, I moved to our headquarters in Liechtenstein joining the newly founded Business Unit “Tool Services” – this time in a Joint Venture setup. We were re-building and re-platforming Hilti’s software offering for our customers – again with an international team sitting in India, Malaysia, U.S., Germany and Liechtenstein/Switzerland.
Only recently, I took on my most recent challenge as Head of our Software Unit for Hilti’s Business Area “Electronic Tools and Accessories”. It is exciting to work with colleagues and vendors around the world on leading-edge technology topics and seeing how we can enthuse our customers all around the world!

I’ve been at Hilti for 15 years, the whole time in head office, but always doing something new. I arrived with a PhD in maths to do simulation engineering in corporate research and technology. This means simulating a product virtually, so you develop it on a computer before building it in the flesh.
I then moved into the area of customer application software, which was a very small team at the time. This was the start of an exciting journey, growing the number of software applications from three to more than 15, and team members from four to over 40. Starting as a project manager, I was promoted to leading the small team. It meant playing a critical role in defining the overall software strategy for Hilti in 2015, and now I’m part of the leadership team of the newly created business unit, Application Software.
Hilti offers a huge variety of internal and external training. I’ve done several internal management training programs, as well as external management and leadership courses. You also get ongoing coaching from your manager and other senior leaders. There’s a really supportive culture to continuously grow and devleop.
